Colorado Wedding Photographer | Destination Wedding Photographer

I’m very grateful to be a Colorado wedding photographer, but when I get the opportunity to travel for a wedding you can count me in! My cousin Mike and his wife Tami reached out to me to see if I was available for Anna (daughter) and Jack’s wedding and I was all in. I always love the additional research of traveling and being apart of weddings out of state. Finding a second wedding photographer that is local, using google maps and wedding photography images to scope out photography portrait locations, etc.

I ended up making the 10 hour roadtrip the day before to settle in and get a good night sleep. Then on the day of, I met my second photographer for brunch and looked over the timeline to plan out our wedding photography plan of attack. Before that, I did drive around the portrait locations that I discussed with the couple beforehand to put a picture to the locations.

We first started at the Rollins Mansion. A beautiful historical wedding venue in Des Moines. After a few getting ready photos, we traveled to Christ the King Catholic Church for their marriage ceremony to follow their vision and faith. A beautiful large ceremony location for all to witness.

After the ceremony and family formals, we took the party to Gray’s Lake Park for a few additional wedding party photos and the couples portrait session. I can’t tell you how much fun I had with Anna, Jack and the wedding party. So much love and energy.

That energy stayed consistent to the wedding reception and into the night. Laughs, smiles, cries, and so much love filled the Rollins Mansion. It was such a pleasure for me to witness this wedding with family that I haven’t spent time with in years. Not only did I get to do what I love another day, but get to travel and be apart of a epic family memory that will live on for a lifetime.
